The project envisages revitalizing and expanding the local economy of Bajaur Agency. The objective of the project is to establish a self-sustained communal market to promote cross-border trade, create economic prosperity for cross border population, contributing to regional cooperation, integration and local development, in support to the FATA Sustainable Development Plan and FATA Government TURRUCI Development Plan.

The market location covering an area of approximately one acre is located at Barkhalozo, 13 km from the Afghan border. The selected location has historic significance and is on the trade route between Bajaur and Kunar (Afghanistan) through the Ghakhi Pass. The market will be a state of the art modern facility and would conduct its business under public - private partnership to ensure sustainability.

This market will act as a hub for trade and economic growth, giving rise to future entrepreneurship, trade, infrastructure, employment and business generation activities, promoting peace and harmony in the cross border region.
